Frequently Asked Questions on TRT

What primary services do you offer?

- testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), growth hormone optimization (GHO), and weight loss treatment.

Why does my PCP believe that I do not need testosterone therapy despite my "normal" or "low normal" levels?

-  when evaluating serum testosterone reference ranges, it's important to note that the "normal" is not adjusted for age or size of individual. This means that men ranging from 18 to 80 years old and with different body sizes are grouped together, resulting in a wide spectrum of 300-1100 being considered "normal." Numerous studies have shown that testosterone levels should not significantly decline merely due to aging. Therefore, for men experiencing symptoms of Low-Testosterone and having what some may consider "borderline levels," treatment with testosterone is often supported and recommended from a clinical standpoint.

At Male TRT Center, we take into account the individual's symptoms and objective biomarkers to provide the most appropriate and tailored treatment options for men with Low-Testosterone symptoms. Your well-being and quality of life are our main priority, and we strive to ensure that you receive the personalized care you deserve.

Does testosterone treatment replace my body's natural testosterone?

In the body, the hypothalamus and pituitary gland are involved in detecting and regulating testosterone levels. When testosterone levels are appropriately balanced, natural production is maintained, ensuring optimum levels are achieved. However, discontinuing therapy or experiencing interruptions can lead to a drop in testosterone levels. In such cases, the hypothalamus and pituitary promptly detect the decline and initiate chemical signaling to restore the natural production of testosterone. However, for individuals with low testosterone, the body may transmit insufficient signals to produce adequate testosterone naturally, or it may be unable to respond effectively to these signals. As a result, patients who discontinue therapy typically return to their natural baseline production, which is inherently inadequate for optimal well-being.

What Is a Nurse Practitioner?

A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, who has undergone rigorous training and national certification and state licensing to become an effective and independent primary care provider. Providers specifically trained as a Family Nurse Practitioner (you’ll see “FNP” next to their name) can see patients of all ages, and have a broad knowledge of general medicine to treat patients suffering from a variety of diseases or illnesses. Any NP can assess, diagnose, and prescribe medications, and brings the experience of working at the bedside to provide patients with holistic and compassionate care.

Do you accept medical insurance?

- we do not accept insurance for any of our services, including bloodwork and treatments like TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy). As these treatments are considered elective care, not medically necessary, and they are not covered by insurance.

How much will lab work cost?

- Initial lab work cost is contained in consultation price. This lab work will cover every biochemical molecule needed to evaluate and initiate TRT. During first consultation, lab work will be discussed in detail and questions will be answered if there are any.

- future lab work will cost $80 and will need to be completed every 8-12 weeks after beginning testosterone until patient is in goal ranges and then every 6 months afterwards.

Where do I get lab work completed?

- Male TRT Center uses outside laboratory services.  Access Medical Labs in conjunction with LabCorp will be utilized. After communication with Male TRT Center, we will order preliminary labs. You as the patient will simply show up to any local LabCorp facility (found across the state) and have your blood specimen drawn. It will then be sent to Access Medical labs to be "spun" for analysis. Male TRT Center can then interpret your blood work and communicate back with you.

*Check out our TeleHealth tab for more details.

How much will prescription cost?

- initial consultation fee includes first prescription if patient meets need for therapy. Afterwards, monthly subscription covers medication cost and supplies as well as ongoing management and treatment.

Where do I get my prescriptions?

- prescription will be delivered to your home. Male TRT Center uses a registered FDA compounding pharmacy that will dispense medications conveniently to you.

What is the recommended duration for testosterone therapy?

- men that are hypogonadal or with andropause are suffering a chronic condition. These conditions are longstanding and require testosterone replacement therapy to correct. Similar to individuals with diabetes that require insulin and those with hypothyroidism that need thyroid replacement, individuals with hypogonadism require long-term testosterone replacement to reach their best physical and mental state. The replacement of the deficient testosterone ensures that they can maintain their well-being and achieve an improved quality of life indefinitely.

At Male TRT Center, we understand the impact of hypogonadism on men's health and want to provide a comprehensive and personalized treatment options. We our committed to addressing your symptoms and developing a tailored approach to help you optimize your overall health and well-being.
